Watermelon Pictures is a film production and distribution company rooted in creative resistance. We helped get the family-owned studio red-carpet ready for its premiere at the 2024 Palestinian Film Festival in Chicago.

With six weeks to prepare for the brand’s premiere, One Design brought us on to help develop a bilingual brand identity and design a full suite of swag, including sweatshirts, totes and film posters. We used our time wisely and uber-collaboratively, conducting interviews with filmmakers, film lovers and even the founders’ father and leaning on the brilliance of Watermelon’s creative team, helmed by Alana Hadid. The visual identity system is ripe with meaningful symbols and gestures, from travel stamps and watermelon seeds to Arabic messaging and graphic devices that offer a fresh lens on Palestinian stories. From the river to the screen, Palestine will be seen.
